NOVEMBER DAY
This morning, if you woke up in Nebraska in a bed with a window facing east, you would have seen the most beautiful sunrise. MagentaOrange in color with a flourescent under painting of yellow.
The leafless trees glowed red and the wild snap dragons in the front yard glowed like bright tiny yellow suns.
The focus for the next three days is to finish these five paintings I started for my review committee. At first they were based on the Nancy Drew Mysteries....but, as most things do, they evolved and turned into the dreams of Paris Hilton. I wonder what Paris Hilton dreams about.
Does she dream? And if so, does she dream of Christmas? Does she dream of colors? Does she dream of her future? Falling in love?
Last nite Sam and I did a last minute thing and got dressed up, filled the car with a tank of gas and high tailed it to Omaha to see the Symphony at the Orpheum. It was amazing....I was entranced by the guest violinist. He played an Opus in E Minor...I don't even know how to describe the efficiency and ease with which he played. I think I just like E minor. The note evokes strange fantasies in my mind, of forests and mysteries.
Sam was enthralled to see the violinist was using a small resting pad on the back of his violin he'd purchased at Walgreens for pennies. Probably a violin from the 16th Century~ and just the most simple thing stuck on the back of the violin with rubber cement to make his playing more comfortable.
I remember buying expensive "tools" for a drum kit once, just to make things more comfortable for the performer, and thinking there HAS to be an easier and cheaper way!
There was a small example of something inexpensive and easy to use stuck on the back of this great performer's violin.
We had a great time, and I secretly drew pictures of the Orpheum and wondered what animals might enjoy playing a harp in a painting. When I looked up at the velvet curtained balconies I imagined I saw the two old men puppets from The Muppet Show looking down upon the Symphony and criticizing everything!
We walked down to the Old Market and had some treats at the Upstream Brewing Co. and just enjoyed being on a short little road trip.
Tomorrow morning the Haymarket Dinner Theatre is coming to record our little bluegrass band to be used for their performance of Pride and Prejudice. I brought my guitar to the studio today to play in between painting and now I've been here for five hours...thinking of going home and having some tasty soup for lunch..and maybe a little nap. I can sense Zoe the Dog and Solomon the Cat are waiting for me to show up and entertain them.

hmmm, I see an elephant playing the harp. Just don't know how he'd hold it. The primates have the arms but are far to uncivilized to appreciate the music. To goofy too! A porcupine would make a very interesting harp player. To bad he couldn't reach it. Maybe the elephant could hold the porcupine by the legs and rub him against the strings while the chimps hold the harp....a group effort.
I don't ever think I'll be able to look at a harp again without a giggle.
